pidgin keeps on quiting

Bug Description

i am having problems with pidgin 1:2.5.2-0ubuntu1 in ubuntu 8.10, it auto quits, and i need to re-login again. i am facing this problem for two days, it has quit around 6 times.

Hi,
thanks for reporting this, however more information is needed.
Please try follow the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace in order to generate a backtrace from pidgin.

Also post the output from the following command in your next comment:
* uname -a

Oh! I have same problem.

Okay, three more things to do:

1. Run pidgin in debug mode with this command:
   * pidgin --debug > pidgin-debug.txt
Wait for the crash and attach the file pidgin-debug, which is in your home directory. Feel free to mask sensitive information, if any.

2. After the crash, look at the bottom of /var/log/syslog and see if there is something that looks relevant to pidgin.

3. Try once more with the backtrace, to make sure it is a good one. Follow the instructions under https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash first, then do the backtrace with the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace.
