Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

Did not Affect: Pidgin 2.5.1
Affects: Pidgin 2.5.2

What happens:
When I get a message a IM window pops up (distracting me from my work) allthough I set the preferences to hide new IM windows

What should have happened:
No window pops up and just the small smiley in the task tray hints that I have a new message :)

weird behavior of the windows popping up stopped right after me reporting the bug.. weird... maybe it was caused by me fiddling with the preferences settings and switching it from 'always' to 'never' and back again? Well I will set it to incomplete until I have some more conclusive info.

ja, weird behavior. have the same (intrepid / pidgin 2.5.2) with one of my buddies.
chat window for this one buddy popped up. This buddy seems to ignore preferences settings (hide new conversations - always).

Aye, the problem seems to be of an intermittent nature.

Had it happen to me again a few times.
And given that I am not the only one who experienced the problem I guess we can treat it as confirmed. (albeit we have no clue what exactly is wrong)

It is certainly low priority but I cannot edit the priorities :D

All we need now is someone who tells us how to due some intelligent testing that will allow us to specify what exactly is wrong.

I belive the problem is given when your friend is using pidgin. The window is not 'pop-uped' when using gtalk or gmail chat window.

I have the same bug.
It's very annoying, the priority should be set to "high".
I only have People which also have Pidgin, so I cannot confirm if it only happens for Pidgin users.
