Can't resize Buddy list window

Bug Description

My current pidgin window has been expanded to approximately 85% the width of one of the monitors on my dual-head system. No matter what I try to do to resize the window it doesn't resize. I have tried closing and restarting the client thinking there was something stateful within the current executing instance, but so far no luck.

I am running into the same issue where I can't resize the Buddy List window. It has been expanding across my screen a 1680x1440 screen now taking up close to 600 across the screen.

I am also running Ubuntu 8.04.1 (hardy) I installed Pidgin from the package manager that was supplied with this Distro.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

Hi Pedro

I am running on Ubuntu 8.10 and the bug is still present (Pidgin 2.5.2). I can change the height of the Buddy list but can't change its width.

Thanks

Jonathan

I believe this is a dupe of bug 393469

Sam and everybody else, can you please see if you have pidgin-extprefs installed and if removing the package fixes the issue for you?

I had this same problem for a while, but thanks to Rolf Leggewie comment, i looked at pidgin-extprefs and found that this package has an option to allow pidgin to resize the window.
To do this, just access the plugins option under the tools menu. Then select Extended preferences (pidgin-extprefs) (if you have it, or download it if not), and then select configure plugin. The last option is to allow body list to shrink.

I hope this helps
Cheers

I can confirm the strange behavior.

This should not considered a bug because it's a configurable behavior of the extpref plugin that can be deactivated in the "Extended Preferences" plugin window.

The bug #393469 has been Triaged, and the same should be for this ticket, that refers to the same behavior.
