Bug Description
Binary package hint: pidgin
While using Pidgin on Ubuntu, one of my Yahoo Messenger groups has an apparently corrupt name of "uFriends". It was originally named just "Friends" in Yahoo Messenger so I'm not sure where Pidgin got the strange characters. The group name field changes every few seconds to another group name or to an individual's alias. I can temporarily correct this by renaming the group to just "Friends" and merging it with my other Friends group. Pidgin, however, does not appear to save this renamed group permanently so I encounter the same group name problem every time I restart it.
This is my first time to report a new bug. I used the built-in Report A Problem feature so hopefully all the info you need is automatically attached.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.
