Pidgin does not allow status containing URL

Bug #241734 reported by Catalin David
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
pidgin (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

1) Ubuntu 8.04
2) Default Pidgin package that comes with Ubuntu 8.04, also available in the repositories
3+4) I wanted to change the status on my only account, a Yahoo account to a URL link. But this wouldn't be allowed. I can see my statusbox being updated, but, because I have myself in the list, even after some refresh-es of the list or even 10h of work, the status won't change to a link.

Please contact me if anything else is missing or you need more data.
