Bug Description
Binary package hint: pidgin
Ubuntu 8.04 (AMD64 - x86_64) - beta, with daily updates applied
Pidgin 2.4.1
I was on the 'Conversations' tab in the 'Preferences' window. In the Default Formatting area, I clicked on the 'Smile!' item, then clicked on one of the smilies (the one with the halo in this case). Pidgin became unresponsive. The Buddy List and a conversation window in the background darkened. The processor went to 100% usage during this time. About 30 sec. later Pidgin completely shutdown then followed prompt to report the crash.
Attempts to reproduce this specific condition after words have failed. However, this isn't the only strange Pidgin crash that occurs. They happen randomly - all with the darkened windows, 100% processor usage, then application crash.
