Bug Description

I tried entering my AIM screename in the "About Me" applet. It would be nice if
Pidgin would use this to automatically add an account for that screename if one
had not been added. Similarlly, if I add an aim screename, it should show up in
"about me".

Thanks for your bug. The about-me capplets uses evolution-data-server to store
the information. Have you tried the evolution/gaim feature? You can activate it
from the gaim preferences

would gevolution add fields to the data server? that sounds odd... patches
welcome :-)

you are probably right. Is that feature a part of gaim? Is there any
documentation explaining how it works?

gevolution? no, no documents I know of. I know its designed to create a
connection between the gaim buddy list and the evolution address book. I
haven't used it myself. I know there are some bug reports related to removing
buddies when its loaded. Other than that, it doesn't come up much.

the about me docklet stuff is rather newer than gevolution is, and there isn't a
ton of current interest in it, not all that many people submitting patches use
evolution.

I was actually just thinking about this today.

To address some of the comments here... No, the gevolution stuff isn't setup to do this, AFAIK.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
