Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

Hardy, pidgin.

I often get this situation where, after a few minutes of operation, Pidgin *thinks* that I want to drag tabs to either shuffle their order or tear them off the main window into a separate window. It basically seems to skip a mouse button release and gets stuck waiting for me to reshuffle or tear out all the tabs, until it runs out of tabs to tear off the main window. Then, it crashes the way Rapport intercepted for this bug report.

Just to compare, a 2.4.0 package p-built from Debian 2.4.0-1 sources doesn't show this behavior. So far, I have run into a stubborn tab mover exactly once and clicking elsewhere e.g. the text input pane, was all it took to make it snap out of it. At any rate, it didn't crash anymore.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

Yes, the bug still exists in 8.10.
