pidgin doesn't allow specifying alternate irc nicks

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gaim

In case of getting bumped from the network gaim uses alternate irc nicks of the form: (imagine that the nick is "username")

usernam2 ..

however the user may have registered
etc., which is quite common

I'd like a way to add alternate nicks to gaims list, which is currently impossible; it would save the hassle of manually changing the nick and re-identifying.

If you're seeing clashes all the time, you should manage that yourself by using separate accounts. If you're seeing this occasionally, then you probably want to kill the old connection. The IRC Helper plugin in the Purple Plugin Pack can do this on the FreeNode network. I don't think there's a bug here.

This still seems like a valid wishlist bug in Ubuntu, even if upstream doesn't seem to care.
