Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin-libnotify

Pidgin segfaults under certain circumstances when libnotify plugin is enabled.

Ubuntu Natty 11.04. pidgin-libnotify 0.14, pidgin 2.7.11

Steps to reproduce:

Start pidgin with libnotify plugin enabled. Let any contact send you a message. You will get notified about that message. Open it using the indicator menu. Close the conversation. What now happens is that the actual conversation vanishes but leaves a grey window on the screen. (As seen on attached screenshot). Close that grey Window, let the contact send you another message. Pidgin immediately crashes. If you don't close the grey window and the contact sends you a message, then it all goes fine. But as soon as you close that orphaned grey window, the next incoming message will cause your pidgin to segfault.

If you disable the libnotify-plugin, everything is completely fine.

Any hints or further information needed?

i don't get that grey window, but i do get the X server crash after a bit of blinking and refreshing of the entire screen.

i'm on debian-testing.

disabling the pidgin libnotify plugin gets rid of the problem.
