pidgin-libnotify (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

1. Start pidgin and firefox
2. Open up your pidgin buddy-list through indicator applet
3. Click on firefox
4. move firefox-window ontop of the buddy-list window
5. open/close your buddy-list through indicator applet

following happens:
buddy-list shortly gets focused but looses it really quick and gets into the background again (no hide or show)

if the firefox window is not ontop of the buddy-list then pidgin hides and shows the buddylist correctly, without changing focus.

some version information:
ubuntu 9.04
indicator-applet 0.1

The same bug seems to be occuring under kubuntu using pidgin tray icon so it might be related to pidgin instead of indicator-applet
Do this problem only occur with firefox ? Because under kubuntu this bug is also present when others windows are in foreground (dolphin, konsole, kate, keepassx, ...)

The same problem exists also with other windows in ubuntu:
gedit
openoffice writer..

I only wanted an application wich is most likely present ;)

I can confirm this.... Pretty annoying especially if you have multiple work spaces and a dock like docky from GnomeDo. You have to manually change the work space to get to pidgin window.

That sounds more like a problem with pidgin itself that the message indicator. Feel free to correct me if that behaviour is specific to pidgin when using the indicator, ie if the focus issue can't be reproduced when using the old systray icon.

David Barth:
the old systray icon works.
it's something specific to indicator-applet.

I may also add that the indicator-applet doesn't work with pidgin only if compiz is disabled.

I agree that it works if compiz is disabled. That happens to me too under ubuntu 9.10

As i don't find a reason to use compiz much this is a bug. And thus is valid.
