Bug Description
Binary package hint: pidgin-encryption
On a clean install of ubuntu gutsy and on an upgrade, I get the following error messages when using the pidgin-encryption plugin.
Bad permissions on key file: known_keys
Pidgin-Encryption will not save keys to a world- or group-accessible file.
It also complains about "id" and "id.priv"
Running chmod go= ~/.purple/id ~/.purple/id.priv ~/.purple/

I just got this on Jaunty, but the last time I enabled Pidgin-Encryption was with Feisty, back in the Gaim days. I checked the three files responsible, and they had 644 permissions for some reason. This caused Pidgin-Encryption to popup a notification for each entry in each file, over 10 in my case, complaining about permissions.
It's reasonable to refuse to operate in this situation, but a torrent of notifications is not helpful. Pidgin-Encryption should check the permissions of the three files first, and then provide a single dialog offering to remove 'group' and 'other' permissions if this is required.
