Bug Description

Binary package hint: phpmyadmin

Ubuntu 7.04 64-bit. PHPMyAdmin gives access denied error unless php5-mcrypt is installed, which is not stated as a dependency.

I can confirm the same observation on AMD64 Feisty.

Since upgrading from Edgy, phpMyAdmin gave access denied error until I installed php5-mcrypt.

This seems to not be fixed yet, http://packages.ubuntu.com/feisty/web/phpmyadmin still lists php5-mcrypt as optional.

Yes. It was fixed in Gutsy. This kind of issue is not serious enough to warrant an update to the non-developmental releases.
