Bug Description
Binary package hint: php5
When I tried to install php5-gd with command

I get following response -
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
php5-gd: Depends: php5-common (= 5.2.1-0ubuntu1.6) but 5.2.3-1ubuntu6.4 is to be installed
E: Broken packages
Details of my machine and OS are as below-
OS: GNU/Linux Ubuntu 7.10 - the Gutsy Gibbon
php5 installed version:
machine: i686
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you post your /etc/apt/ sources. list file? Did you try to install the php5-gd package by hand using the version provided in feisty?
5.2.1-0ubuntu1.6 refers the php version in feisty-updates while 5.2.3-1ubuntu6.4 refers to the version in gutsy-updates.
