when installing php5-ldap, apache2 does not get restarted

Bug Description

After installing the php5-ldap package, the post-install routine reloads apache2. This does not activate the module, apache2 needs to be restarted.

Hi!

Thanks for reporting this bug.

I've now just reproduced the bug, the php5 packages lack the postinst trigger to restart apache2 if required so they leave at the sysadmin choice to restart or not.

Changed in php5 (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

OK, some sort of debconf menu or cmd line choice to restart or not - or at the very least the note that the reloading really doesn't do anything to activate the module would be nice.

I agree that it shouldn't just automatically restart.
