Arno Peters (awpeters) wrote : small package improvements

Concerning the packages Carlos Briosso created:

First of all: thank you very much. On cursory inspection, the package works very well. To make the package even easier to install/update, please follow the suggestions below.

Please add /etc/php5/conf.d/interbase.ini with the following content:

---------------------------------------------------- interbase.ini
# configuration for php interbase module
extension=interbase.so
----------------------------------------------------

php.ini in apache2, cli, etc. do not need to be changed any more when using interbase.ini

Maybe also notify the user that the module will only be activated after apache2 has been restarted.

Concerning the Arno Peters suggestions, they were very wise, already I implemented them and they are ready in a new build
The sources are updated in http://revu.tauware.de/details.py?upid=4836 and the binary is attach in this message

I saw your upload has been archived. This package is not part of Ubuntu PHP5, though.

Here is Ubuntu changelog:
php5 (5.2.2-1ubuntu1) gutsy; urgency=low

  * Merge to Debian unstable; remaining Ubuntu changes:
   - debian/changelog: Add some missing CVEs.
   - debian/control, debian/rules: Disable a few build dependencies and
accompanying binary packages which we do not want to support in main:
     + apache-dev/libapache-mod-php5 (die, Apache 1, die!)
     + firebird2-dev/php5-interbase (we have a separate php-interbase source)
     + libc-client-dev/php5-imap (we have a separate php-imap source)
     + libmcrypt-dev/php5-mcrypt (separate php-mcrypt source)
   - Add missing libsqlite3-dev build dependency.

As you can see, php-interbase is not shipped in Main due to a dependency on a package in Universe, so this package is still relevant.

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
php5-interbase: Depends: phpapi-20051025 but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
