Bug Description
Binary package hint: perl-base
The module Scalar::List::Utils contains both an XS version and a pure perl version. The pure perl version lacks some functionality that the XS version contains. Some packages (svk, rt, etc) depend on the full functionality of the XS version and fail without it. The standard perl distribution normally includes the XS version; maybe it was excluded by mistake?
I initially brought this up on the user list[1]. It's also been discussed briefly on the perl5-porters list[2].

Confirmed...I experienced this myself, but chalked it up to me doing something dumb with one of the many Perls on my system. I have since reinstalled and ran into the same problem. This problem has been seen on other OS's, but is not experienced with any standard install. My guess is that some setting is causing the XS compile for ext/List/ Util/Util. xs to fail, but what that is right now is uncertain.
To whomever is packaging the Ubuntu Perl, I'd love to see the output of the myconfig and output from the build so I could try to figure out what is wrong.
