Ubuntu is not working after dualboot instll with xp

Binary package hint: debconf

I work with XP and try to make a dual-boot with Ubuntu. It does'nt work. There is noGrub loading starting. But XP starts automaticli, without going to the dualboot screen.
I used Ububtu 8-10 I386
When i am in Ubuntu while using the CD to startup, there are lots of crashreports.
