Bug Description

Hello; PowerDNS's recursor 4.0.0 release wasn't quite ready in time for 16.04 LTS so an alpha version was shipped instead, with the understanding that newer releases could be SRU'd back to Xenial at a later date.

It's been several months now, and upstream has released 4.0.3. This is packaged as 4.0.3-4 in devel and in sid. The Debian maintainer is quite active and disciplined.

What's the best way forward to getting a newer PowerDNS recursor in 16.04 LTS? A zesty backport? Or merge from Debian?
