pdl + libgimp-perl + gimp = any 2x2 filter fails

Using any of the 2x2 filters fails. As an example trying to use Filters -> Enhance -> 2x2 Contrast Enhance results in the followwing error message

2x2 Contrast Enhance Message
gouge: dimension mismatch, pdl has dimension 0 but at least 3 dimensions required at /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/gouge line 35 (ERROR)

I have this happen on 3 feisty boxes. If I downgrade the pdl package from 2.4.3-3ubuntu1 to 2.4.2-6ubuntu1 then the 2x2 filters work.

Confirmed here. To reproduce, install libgimp-perl, pdl, and follow instructions in bug description.

I'm seeing the problem on both Jaunty and Karmic.

Steps to reproduce: install libgimp-perl, pdl and dependancies

$ sudo apt-get install libgimp-perl

open a terminal and start gimp, then in gimp create a new image.
in gimp, click on Filters>>Enhance>>2x2 Contrast Enhance
