I am not sure but this might fall in under bugfix-only (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess#FeatureFreeze_for_bugfix-only_updates) in which case it should be possible to sync the newer package. I haven't really looked at the changes involved, but I've subscribed ~ubuntu-release to take a look at it.

(If we end up needing to remove the package, ubuntu-archive is the team to subscribe, though let's first see whether we can get a newer version in)
