Bug Description
Could you please sync pcre2 version 10.21 from Debian Unstable into Xenial?
This would help with Xenial's future compatibility with newer versions of VTE (the terminal widget behind gnome-terminal and friends).
Newest development VTE introduces (and enables by default) PCRE2 support, and requires at least version 10.21.
Having this version shipped by Xenial would make it easier both to compile a newer VTE, or to install a newer VTE without having to fiddle with additional dependencies.

Note that the new Debian package also contains a security fix!
