Bug Description
Binary package hint: pcmanfm
after upgrading ubuntu to 10.04, i noticed that pcmanfm no longer shows (un)mounted devices in the places sidebar, so i can no longer directly access e.g. a pendrive that i plug in, or easily mount/unmount external (or internal) drives. i'm not sure if it's intended (and i hope that pcmanfm will be replaced with 0.9/1.0 version in not-so-far future), but it does make it sort of cumbersome, and makes me do the stuff using nautilus (clearly a non-solution for an environment intended to be lightweight/fast).
pcmanfm version: 0.5.2+svn200910

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
The problem is that pcmanfm bails out if it can't immediately connect to HAL (reasons because the service is not already running). What it should be doing instead is continuing anyway, where it should immediately connect to HAL straight away. Once this happens, pcmanfm should function as expected.
The attached patch removes the check that prevents this, if you can test it, appreciated.
