Bug Description

I want to change the default application for a .mp4 file which resides on a SMB share of our NAS.
When I do so using PCmanFM, I get a window saying "Please enter a valid user name or numeric ID" (translated from German).

Changing the default association works fine for local files but it doesn't seem to work for files on SMB shares.

I use Ubuntu 14.04 and have just installed 'lubuntu-desktop' into a clean user environment (empty $HOME) because Unity is simply too slow for an old Atom based nettop ...
