"no app currently recording audio" message stays even when anything starts recording

Bug Description
Binary package hint: pavucontrol
Ubuntu 9.10 derivate, up-to-date
pavucontrol: Installed: 0.9.8+git200907
Steps to reproduce:
1) ensure that nothing records audio
2) open pavucontrol
3) choose Recording tab
4) start recording (tried with arecord and flash applet)
expected: message "No application is currently recording audio" is replaced by volume sliders
happened: message stayed, sliders appeared on the bottom
notes:
steps 1 and 2 are commutable (you can start pavucontrol and close all recording applications after)
pavucontrol window does not update (tried minimizing, going to other workspace, switching tabs in pavucontrol)
the only action that triggered the update was when i took a picture with XWD program. I guess the reason was the beep it made.
