You have done almost a new packaging! Not that it's bad (you seem to have done it good, although I haven't reviewed it. But if I upload this, there's very few chances that we can sync the package with Debian again in the future.

Things I don't like:

+ * debian/compat: debhelper version bumped to 6.

+ * debian/copyright:
+ - converted to http://wiki.debian.org/Proposals/CopyrightFormat

+ * debian/patchage.sgml -> debian/patchage.xml

+ * debian/rules: ported to CDBS.

If you do just the update without all this (unnecessary) changes I'll sponsor it. But maybe you want to contact the Debian maintainer and co-maintain the package there ;)
