Provide an option to do reverse of what pastebinit does. Pastebin URL to file

It is very helpful to have a url of a pastebin item and download it to a file, which is the opposite of what pastebinit does.

wget and curl both exist for a long time. What is missing?

wget and curl do exist. But I cannot directly wget a URL returned by pastebinit. That will only download the HTML page where the paste is shown. The page for showing the paste in raw form which is downloadable using wget or curl differs from service to service and it will be good if pastebinit supports it for its supported services.

I think that would be a maintenance nightmare if I understand your request correctly, and for very little gain.

I don't see how this information can be easily and consistently parsed from the information that is available via http. As such, pastebinit devs would need to generate and keep up-to-date a list of mappings between pastebin+pastebinid to raw-URL. I don't think that will happen, but this is your last chance to argue your case for this feature before I intend to close as wontfix.

Yeah, I don't see current pastebinit growing that kind of feature. Should someone do some significant re-design of pastebinit to support some of the newer pastebins API, it would probably be reasonable to support this for those pastebins that offer programmatic access to the paste content.

But again, that would need basically a full rewrite of pastebinit so marking this as won't fix for the current code base.
