Bug Description

Version: Ubuntu 5.04 Preview

This was tested on an existing fresh install of Win98 on PII class machine,
using an old 6.2 HD with ONE FAT32 partition, defragmented. The hard disk was in
good condition, recently checked for errors without problem.

When installing Ubuntu 5.04 Preview (Hoary), the partition manager displays an
error message if I try to resize the partition. Here's the steps to reproduce:

1- Boot from install CD
2- When the partitioning tool starts, choose Manually edit partitions
3- With the arrows, choose the FAT32 partition
4- Scroll to Size: and choose it. A warning indicates "Before the resize
operation takes place, the changes have to be written to disk.(newline)You
cannot undo this operation(newline)Please note that the resize operation may
require a long time.(newline)Write the changes to disk and resize the partition
?" - ANSWER YES
5- A new message indicates the minimum partition size and other help info.
Choose "30%" or any size less than the max.
6- A progress indicator starts, then the error occurs.
7- Cancel the error, though, and changes seem accepted, dual boot works fine
after install (so far!)

Not sure if this should have "normal" severity or else, since it does not
produce data loss (at least in my tests).

I tested this same scenario using a bigger disk with an ext3 partition on a PIII
class machine and had no problems. I am not sure what other information may be
helpful but I have uploaded a picture of the screen at the moment the problem
occurs at the URL referenced. If needed, I can reproduce this or provide more
information either from Win98 or Ubuntu's system information tools.

Would it be possible for you to test this with the Breezy installer?

I don't have access to this hardware anymore, can't test further.

Unless someone else can test / confirm this, I'd like to request it to be rejected/closed as deemed appropriate.
