No ext4 option in manual partitioning using livecd installer

partman-ext3 (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

In the manual partitioning part of the installer on the livecd, when a partition is selected and "edit partition" is selected, there is no Ext4 option in the "use as:" part.

This is on the 9.04 Jaunty daily build downloaded 4/3/08, on the "PC (Intel x86) desktop CD".

Also I did reboot and the option still wasn't there.

Odd. Please attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman from the running installer so that we can look into this.

Changed in ubiquity (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

well, I should have put this is one of those 2 posts but

look in /var/log/syslog, line 3421, it says:
"Apr 4 20:25:08 ubuntu kernel: [ 2021.820493] EXT4-fs: unable to read superblock"

also I downloaded the iso from today, and this if from that ( I just installed it in virtualbox )

Colin Watson (cjwatson) wrote :

The line "EXT4-fs: unable to read superblock" is entirely unrelated to this bug. It's harmless noise from os-prober.

Thanks for this; this regression was my fault. A fix is on its way.

This bug was fixed in the package partman-ext3 - 56ubuntu2

partman-ext3 (56ubuntu2) jaunty; urgency=low

  * Make valid_filesystems/ext4 executable (LP: #354851).
