Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I tried to install Hardy using 20080417.1/hardy-dvd-amd64.iso and the "use the whole disk" method - it failed telling me "Could not stat /dev/sda1 --- No file or directory". This all happened using KVM in a qemu-img.

In the disk image I had two installations (used auto-resize) previously.

I got a similar error in vmware on amd64. First I used "entire disk", afterwards "auto-resize", so that I had a bunch of partitions. After that I used "entire disk" again. The partitions were created, but there was only /dev/sda{,5,6}, /dev/sda1 was missing. udevtrigger did not help either.

Oh, and after rebooting the CD again it worked fine.

  * Disable swap on all the swap partitions for the device being
changed, rather than just the ones that will exist after
    partitioning (LP: #218394).
