Bug Description

Starting Parole 0.8.0 on 15.04 gives me the error:

(parole:3231): Clutter-CRITICAL **: _clutter_id_pool_add: assertion 'id_pool != NULL' failed

(parole:3231): Clutter-CRITICAL **: Unable to check features. Have you initialized Clutter?
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I have this error when using the flrgx driver and the open source ati driver. If I start Parole as root, the application window starts, but videos cannot be played do to an xv error. I've found this askubuntu case that matches the bug I see exactly: https://askubuntu.com/questions/647965/problem-launching-parole-after-upgrading-to-vivd-clutter-critical-error?newreg=b7bdd94754234fcdbba59fa505dfe312

Parole 0.8.1 disabled the Clutter backend, resolving any related errors.

parole (0.8.1-1ubuntu3) xenial; urgency=medium

  * Disable clutter backend, broken in xenial.
