Bug Description

When I try to play an .ogv file, I get the following error:

Gstreamer backend error
Configured videosink video is not working.

I'm on Xubuntu 13.04 and Parole 0.5.0 and I have all the extra codecs as well as xubuntu-restricted-extras installed.

The file that refused to play is http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/graphics/blender/apricot/trailer/sintel_trailer-480p.ogv

After running 'parole --xv false' Parole is able to play the video file again.

The linked OGV file cannot be found anymore. Nevertheless, can you confirm that this issue still exists in newer Xubuntu releases?

In VirtualBox, with 14.04 and latest updates installed as of today, trying to play the same file gives me the following error in console:

"Cannot connect to server socket err = No such file or directory
Cannot connect to server request channel"

and throws an error dialog with:

"Gstreamer backend error
Could not initialise Xv output"

Again, after running "parole --xv false" once, the file is played.

Parole 1.0.0 introduced a new "automatic" video sync, eliminating the Xv output error in Virtualbox. This release was included in 18.04.
