Once again, all paprefs checkboxes save for the one for Simultaneous Output are greyed-out. While avahi-discover finds all networked sound devices, for example, paprefs cannot see them.

Bug Description
Looking back over previous releases of Ubuntu, this problem has cropped up again and again. Some outline posts have suggested "going behind the curtain" and editing pulseaudio's default.pa file solves this problem, but after hours of experimentation, I have yet to figure out how to get external devices like my Marantz AVR to show up in the Gnome Settings sound output devices list, which means that Kodi is pretty much useless if you want quality sound for music or videos.
Kodi, of course, works perfectly from my Mac Notebook which has no problems seeing my Marantz unit. This is the kind of problem that still leaves linux in the backseat when it comes to so many PC users.
