Bug Description

I have Ubuntu 11.04 32 bit on a Lenovo X1. The OS is very recently installed. During installation, I chose to have my home directory encrypted.

Today, I installed libpam-fprint, fprint-demo, libfprint0. I used fprint-demo to register some fingerprints. Then I enabled PAM fingerprint checking using pam-auth-update to enable fingerprint authentication.

However, when the machine booted up, I get the message "Could not find suitable fingerprints matched to available hardware" in my login window (see also http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1804014).

As shown at the above link, there was a comment that this error might be occurring due to encrypted home directory. Does that sound likely? Is this issue avoidable somehow, eg by assigning a different location for saved fingerprint files? It seems that it's a bug, in any case.

Cheers
JP
