15:03 < micahg> Riddell: how does owncloud provide packages if it can't be backported?
15:05 < Riddell> micahg: they include about 20 third party modules as part of the source, but several of them don't have preferred modifiable form (only minified javascript) and several others the packages in quantal are too old and require several other new or updated dependencies to be backported which won't be API compatible

Hello Jonathan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted into quantal-proposed. The package will build now and be available in a few hours in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!

The fix for this bug has been awaiting testing feedback in the -proposed repository for oneiric for more than 90 days. Please test this fix and update the bug appropriately with the results. In the event that the fix for this bug is still not verified 15 days from now, the package will be removed from the -proposed repository.

I am confused, there is no package in quantal-proposed and none of the tasks are fix-committed, this bug is in an inconsistent state.

tech board members have hinted they'd accept an update to the current version of owncloud as a SRU, so I have uploaded packages of 5.0.4 to -proposed for quantal, precise and oneiric.

No changes needed for quantal compared to raring.

Precise needs various php modules to use the versions shipped with owncloud rather than packaged versions. It also needs a copy of jquery added.

oneiric needs the dependency on php-crypt-blowfish removed

packages in ppa:jr as well as new/unapproved queues

Unsubscribing ~ubuntu-archive, as it isn't possible to remove the older packages (the release pocket is unmodifiable) except by superseding them either with empty packages or with functional SRUs; in either case accepting those is up to ~ubuntu-sru.

The version I made for precise-proposed didn't want to work for reasons unknown.
