Sync is deleting files from my a defined sync folder (my desktop)

Bug Description
After installing 1.1.1-2 I began seeing new files that I saved to the desktop (12.04 64-bit Ubuntu) disappear before my eyes. At the same time, the owncloud icon was flashing red. Owncloud icon would also disappear and reappear periodically.
Files saved to my desktop from GIMP and from LibreOffice behaved the same. They sayed put for a minute or two, then <poof> gone.
After uninstalling owncloud-client, problem went away.

forgot to add: ~/Desktop was set as a synchronized folder in the owncloud client (as was ~/Documents)
