Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

The only thing in that folder is the dkms_dbversion
which reads (when opened)

2.0.0

I'm a bit at a loss here trying to sort out what's going on with my system. I may have to do a complete reinstall of 10.04 to get it sorted out.

Also, take a look at comment 2 in bug #519577 . I haven't tried that yet (because the instructions weren't very clear), but it's worth trying.

Console output:

This looks very much like bug #519577, essentially /lib/modules/2.6.32-21-generic/source/include/linux/limits.h doesnt exist so make fails on the first line (hence the lack of any real log data in the make.log) . i'll mark it so but if you think its a different one please feel free to change
