Are you running in a real root acount instead of using sudo? I looked and none of the oprofile .debs ship a config file so it looks like the application is creating it based on what it things the environment is. |

In that case this is perfectly normal. Many applications store user specific configuration files like that. |

Errr, no, oprofiled is a daemon that runs as root. It absolutely should not store it's config in /root/. If upstream defaults to that, we should fix it. That's what Debian/Ubuntu packaging is about. If you still disagee, I invite you to show me any other daemon that stores it's config file in /root/. |
