I just tried to confirm this and could not. What version of Ubuntu are you running? For Feisty, the ssh package is broken up into openssh-server and openssh-client. I'd suggest trying:

sudo apt-get install openssh-server

and report back if that works for you.

I did get it to install by doing a sudo aptitude install openssh-server and also there were some dependencies that had to be installed libstdc6++. I was running Edgy and got the notification that I could upgrade to feisty. Process took about 14 hours but this was the only problem. Thanks for a great distro.

Thank you for the update. I'm going to leave this unconfirmed for the moment because yours is the only report of an SSH related problem when upgrading (I've done several myself without issue). I'm glad you were able to get it working.

I am leaving the bug open in case others start reporting the same kind of issue.

I have had a similar issue. I installed kubuntu 7.10 on i386 yesterday, installed ssh-server, then performed a dist. upgrade. Having said that, the errors reported when I looked at it with sudo dpkg --configure -a were about corrupt archives, a removed, purged, cleaned and reinstalled and things were somewhat more successful.
