openshot hangs immediately after start

Soon after it is started the window got grayed and I can only force-close the application. The program had been working perfectly fine until recently. Maybe it is caused by some recent updates?

OK, program will start eventually but it is taking around 3 minutes to be responsive. It is 100% reproducible on my system.
