Bug Description
The spellchecker in OpenOffice.org 2 writer appears to be non functional. After
typing nonsense strings or intentionally misspelled words, the mispelling
highlighter does not highlight the misspellings. A manual spellcheck indicates
no mispellings in the document.
I am using English-US. I have checked that locales and spelling-related packages
such as myspell are installed. Checking the various settings under the options
dialog for languages and writing aids, nothing seems to be set incorrectly.
This anomaly is exhibited on a system that was fresh installed from Ubuntu
Colony 1, and has been upgraded at each milestone CD. Currently it is at Colony
4+ and has recently been updated via internet repositories. This problem also
is exhibited on a system that was originally hoary and was upgraded via CD to
colony 3 and again to colony 4.
Others have repsonded with similar results on the ubuntu-devel mailing list.
