Binary package hint: openoffice.org
It seems that many of the bugs related to OO shipped with Ubuntu are
due to the fact that it is being compiled using gcj.
There are many reports in launchpad concerning wizards that simply won't work
because of this, making the suite useless (i.e. OO base form wizard is broken).
However, if a user installs the OpenOffice.org version (using alien tool) the suite
works as it is supposed to.
So, I believe that Ubuntu should provide an Open Office that works just like
in Suse, Fedora and even Windows......Please fix that. It's a major pain having to
install the suite from scratch for the end user!! |

It seems that many of the bugs related to OO shipped with Ubuntu are Ubuntu and Debian specific. People have suggested that this is related to the way OO is compiled with gcj.
