Bug Description

When exporting documents with automatically generated PDFs, the automatically generated dots are broken a little bit.

Some dots are just skipped, which leaves a whitespace seemingly random.

This is the exported PDF which shows a broken ToC.

This also seems to affect Type1 fonts!

I don't want to be overly dramatic about this, but such a bug kind of ruins the entire PDF export feature altogether...

I can confirm this bug, it's bin there I think since Edgy Eft.
It's not a real show stopper, but handing in a paper or an official document which doesn't even have the dots in the table of content rendered correctly will have an unprofessional look over it before anyone ever reads it.

Ok I have a possibly related issue. Instead of missing sections I have crunched up dots some of which overlap the page number at the end of the line. See attached screen shot.

I vote to raise priority on this as OOo and PDF export are key tools that effect professional use of Ubuntu.

Munckfish, that is not possibly related, that IS the issue ;).
Your screenshot exactly depicts what I experience. You are right by saying it's a key tool for professional use of Ubuntu.

Did a bit of digging in the openoffice bug tracker and found this

Reported in OOo 2.1 and fixed but seems we have the same problem right now in Ubuntu's 2.2.

I see, although that bug says it occurs with Times New Roman, I think it also occurs with other fonts.
But still it's a real pitty nobody looked into this, it makes me use OOo (and older version) on Windows cause that one doesn't have the problems.

Ok I think #90868 may be a more general version of this bug. As this kerning issue is affecting other parts of documents as well as the TOC. Don't worry Loe - I'm sure it'll be fixed soon.

I believe that this bug has been corrected in Ubuntu hardy openoffice.org 1:2.4.0~rc2-1ubuntu3 so I am marking it as Fix Released. If after upgrading you continue to have problems with this issue then feel free to reopen this bug.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney
