Bug Description
Binary package hint: openoffice.org
With subpixel smoothing, fonts are rendered very poorly in OpenOffice.
1. Start with a fresh user directory.
2. Enable subpixel smoothing in the System/
3. Launch OpenOffice writer.
Fonts are rendered very irregularly when subpixel smoothing is enabled, but are acceptable (not ideal) when best shapes are enabled. OpenOffice seems to be doing its own font rendering, rather than using the system engine. No changes made in OpenOffice view preferences fix the problem, though they do result in different kinds of ugliness. Fonts are fine in all other applications tested.

Thanks, Oskar -- I didn't think to search for libfreetype6 when I was
looking for existing bugs.
All the best,
