Bug Description

I think the splash screens need to be changed to better fit the new look of ubuntu, the current ones look like they are from feisty fawn or something.

Complety agree. The OOo splash, begining of the issue that it wouldn't exist (because of the start times), it's honestly antique, it remembers the Gutsy's default wallpaper... Why are you forgiving that notorious detail?

I agree with you all, but it doesn't seem they want to fix it soon. See bug #645819

The Windows versions of OpenOffice.org got a new splash screen and logo after Oracle took over Sun. Those look a lot better than what we are still using on Ubuntu. Can't we update the splash screens to the new ones that are already in use on Windows?

Though this sounds the proper and logical way to get this fixed, is this
fix possible? And, is it trivially fixable? The Java libraries that OO.o
uses to render the splash screens are different for Windows and
GNU/Linux.

@Bilal Are you saying that using the windows splash screen is difficult or changing them in general is? And I think sergio was referring to this bug... https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/535041

@Bilal Akhtar: I don't know anything about rending methods for the OOo splash image, but pne thing I'm sure is that is a single BPM square image, in all its versions; so, a papercut is more than trivial. We just need creativity and vision to get a great splash image ;)

This is no longer a valid papercut since OpenOffice will eventually be replaced with LibreOffice.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
