Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

When doing a slide show for an audience using a projector, using the presenter console, the presenter console sometimes shows on the projection screen instead of the speakers laptop display. The work around to this, is to use ALT F7 and drag it back to the laptop screen, or alternatively, end the slide show, and go to Slide-show, Slide-show-settings, and under Multiple-displays, change the Presentation-display to Display 1 if it is set to Display 2, or if it is set to Display 1, then set it to Display 2.

In other words, Open Office seems to get confused about which is Display 1 and which is Display 2. Sometimes, it thinks the projector is Display 2 (correct) and sometimes it thinks it is Display 1.

Annoying, because you never know whether the console will show on the right display when starting a slide show.

Richard, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please attach an Impress file that when presenting this problem occurs with? Does this issue occur for you in LibreOffice Impress?

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-impress

This issue pertains to the presenter console add in. I've recently switched to Libre Office and have hardly had this issue. I thought it had gone completely with LO, but this week I did have it once, and what I did was exit LO and restart it, and the issue went away. I think it may be due to LO needing to have the two displays configured before it opens? My guess is that if LO is open, and then you connect the projector and set that up, then you press F5... perhaps that is when it gets confused? If one has the habit of getting the hardware right before opening LO, then you may never see this issue.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
