Steps to reproduce:
1. Open OpenOffice Writer, for example (with Impress is the same)
2. From Drawing Toolbar, select "line"
3. Draw a line
4. From Drawing toolbar, select "Points"
5. From the Edit Points toolbar, select "Insert Points"
6. Insert a new point in the line
7. Select the central point in the curve
8. From the Edit Points toolbar, select "Symmetric Transition"

I tried with both the OpenOffice 2.4 that ships with Ubuntu 8.10 and a freshly installed OpenOffice 3.0.
