Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Description:
Openoffice 3.0.1 in ubuntu 9.04 uses old version of ICU library(libicu) and this causes wrong rendering of langauges, particularly Malayalam(ml_IN)

Details:
Version of libicu in jaunty : 3.8-5 ( http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/openoffice.org-core )
Version of libicu in karmic : 3.8-5 (http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/openoffice.org-core)
Version of libicu in Debian testing: 4.0 (http://packages.debian.org/testing/openoffice.org-core)
libicu 4.0 has the fix for this ticket: http://bugs.icu-project.org/trac/ticket/6108 to fix a Malayalam rendering problem

Since it is not included jaunty or karmic, Malayalam rendering is wrong in Ubuntu 9.04

Expected:
Use libicu 4.0 version

How to reproduce:
Always reproducible
1. launch open office writer in ubuntu 9.04, and paste this text: " അതു് " .
2. Compare the rendering in gedit or browser or compare the redering with Openoffice in Debian testing

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. This issue has been fixed in newer versions of Ubuntu, and Jaunty is EOL, so I am closing this bug task.
