Ooo missing fonts

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I installed some new fonts to the system, Garamond being one of them. I copied them to ~/.fonts/ and rebuilt font cache.
fc-list shows the fonts:

Fonts appear and work OK in Gimp and AbiWord...but not in ooo.org.
I tried restarting X, rebooting. It doesn't help.

Do you still have this problem with the version in the ppa at https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive/ppa

Er sorry the kernel version threw me off. Is there somewhere to get this font that I can use for testing the problem?

I cannot upload the font as it is commercial...
...I tried with free fonts and it works ok.

Could it be the problem in format (it is OTF, not TTF)?

That is probably the reason as it appears OOo does not support OTF yet. There is another bug report about this so I am marking this bug as a duplicate of that one.
