Bug Description

I think OpenOffice.org Media Player *should* support at least most popular open media formats, like OGG/Vorbis, FLAC (look at www.vorbis.com ) or OGG/Theora (look at www.theora.org ) as default or at least show helpfull suggestions (in Recommends/Sugessts list and in description of openoffice.org package or in warning dialog, when user tries to open not supported files) how to get OpenOffice.org working with these audio/video file formats.

OGG support is still broken on Ubuntu's OpenOffice.org (tested with 2.0.1oob680m5):

1. Now there are no .ogg extension in OpenOffice.org Media Player's Open dialog :(, so OGG/Vorbis audio or OGG/Theora video files user doesn't see as default :(

2. According to OOo issue #51654, OOo Media Player on Linux uses the Java Media Framework, that supports by itself a variety of formats and can be extended by plugins to support even more formats. Why don't include support for OGG/Vorbis, FLAC or Theora multimedia formats as default in OOo packages or make separate package, which could be in Recommends/Suggest list of OpenOffice.org package?

3. User should get info (URL) where to get OGG/Vorbis, FLAC or Theora support if they tries to open multimedia files, encoded in these formats, but now I get only dumb message "The format of selected files is not supported" :(

I don't know if I should report 3 separate bugreports or it's enough just this one bugreport ?

needs a working JMF on Linux, or maybe a (big) patch to make OOo work with gstreamer?

2009 and ooo in ubuntu 9.04 still lacks ogg support
it would be quite useful for presentation and explanation especially if used to gtk-recordmydesktop
